Dealing With The Differences

Firstly, I must say that all praises belong to the creator of the universe through who all understanding comes... God is Love..........

Its so difficult sometimes to deal with the pressures that comes with differences. Be it differences in thought that leads to differences in opinions, or be it differences in beliefs that leads to differences in practices or differences in our complexion that leads to differences in our complexities. Whatever the differences are, if we do not embrace them, If we do not stop them from controlling our lives, then we cannot and will not be able to make or be the change.

I remember in 2007,I converted to Islam. I can tell you, that was one of the toughest period in my life given the fact that I lived in my Grandmothers house and she was a Christian for many years. I also had friends who thought that it was unheard of for someone like me to convert to a religion like Islam so something must have been wrong with me. I even had one of my brothers telling me that he was willing to spend his money on me for me to go seek help for the obvious mental issues I had.

No one was interested in why I made that change in my life nor what Islam had to offer that I needed at the time. No one cared that it was still me and the difference in me caused me to question the norm.I on the other hand, never cared what anyone else had to say. My life, my decisions and I would deal with whatever consequences that followed.

I have out grown that stage in my life now. I am more spiritual than religious. However, the point I was trying to make is that, just because it doesn't seem right to others, does not mean its not right for you and vice versa. We must however, learn that if we were to be the only ones in this world, we would be but since the creator see it otherwise, then who are we to object? and despite our obvious differences, we are one people in the eyes of Love. If a house is being built and all the persons who work on it are masons, the house would be incomplete without the input of a carpenter, an electrician, the toiler, the painter and then when they are done, whoever will be living in it will provide the décor that captures their style. All the different elements that each individual brings, comes together to create something beautiful and strong.

Lets put our differences aside and lead with our hearts. Love is the single greatest force on the face of this earth and will help us to embrace our differences so that we can recreate our beautiful world.

Peace Love and Joy.
