Self

Firstly, I must say that all praises belong to the creator of the universe through who all understanding comes... God is Love............

Today, I am compelled by my spirit to speak to you on self. What about self you might ask? Well, here's what am thinking; With all of the different feelings that one has to contend with, it is extremely difficult for the average individual to have total control over him/herself. In looking around the earth, I realised that only a very few persons are able to have total self control and it is often those people who do not have to contend themselves with the cares of the world. People like monks.

I can also reference the life of Jesus who went on a fast for 40days and 40 nights in the desert and there was also Buddha who it is believed spent 49days in the vicinity of a Bodhi Tree which led to his enlightenment. They, in order to connect with themselves, they, in order to be able to discipline their bodies, first had to learn to discipline their minds and in order to discipline their minds, needed to separate themselves all things that sort to distract them.

So how do we stay centered? How do we connect with our inner self? How do we discipline our minds to then discipline our bodies? is it at all possible for a working individual to have total self control?

The truth is we cannot have total self control but we can strive to attain it through regular meditation, fasting and prayer and for some, it requires external influence (smoking) to enable them to find their center. Which ever way one is able to connect with themselves is important to the wholesomeness of ones being. I saw a quote once, I cannot at this time remember from whom it came but I found it to be absolutely brilliant. it simply says 'A man that has lost his center, has lost himself'.

Today, let us strive to find our center, let us find that inner peace that enables us to communicate with universe. I cannot tell you what will work for you but you have to find what will. If you are not able to, then I fear that you will be so consumed by the things around you that you will never be able to find your true self.
